i dont see any flicker from rev counter when cranking either(n)

Did you check for fuel and spark?

The CPS itself may be fine, splendid and in perfect health.

BUT

to work it must be plugged and wired in correctly and it has to be able to see the trigger wheel.

With a non-functioning CPS, no fuel and no spark, and the ECU will think the engine is not turning (rev counter?).

iirc the stock tacho starts at 500rpm, crank speed being around 300rpm - you're not going to see it move, this kind of test only really works when you've got a laptop connected.

check for spark and injectors firing instead.

The CPS should be shielded all the way to the ECU and then gruonded at the end. Once playing with ECU swapping I forgot to hook up this ground (it is the small thing connected to the ECU leg in my Cinq) and the engine would not start (though I cannot claim this was the reason as there were several other issues then). The same ground is also vital for shielding the correct functioning of the lambda probe.

any update mate?

No Kris im not very well got really bad chest infection and had migraine for the last 2 days and the cough i have is the worst ive had in 20 years but will be back on the case shortly.:D
going to buy new cinq dash clocks that have the code light unlike mine (y)
However on the upside my FF yellow external window stickers arrived today now ive got to get a set for the blue cinq...what colour would go best on that one?:D

OK been and taken dash clocks out the blue cinq as that has a code light on it and hey presto 1st shows code light up and second pic is where im turning the engine over and code light stays on(n)(n)(n) got bolted up by the chap who sold me the ecu stating it all came from the same vehicle:rolleyes:
so now going to spend £60 on an ecu with the immobilizer removed already and im hoping it should fire up then :slayer::worship:

Well postman turned up today with the manicat and guess what it doesnt fit and there is no chance of getting it to fit as the front panel would have to be cut and the rad moved as like with the ja 4 branch it comes out to far from the head, but going to take it into work tomorrow and see how much metal can be taken off the manifold as there are all the heat shield mounts etc still on there and with those ground off will give a bit more clearance but still dont think it will be enough (n)(n)
Now got my ff window stickers on just waiting for the white ones to turn up for the blue cinq!!!!
