yup the front slam panel is welded on.

Hmmm really no point painting the front arm it would only last a week or so :p.

oh well time to get the welder out and put some new panels on correctly(y)would love to know who did the cowboy work:mad: to me the state its in and the way its attached i would say DANGEROUS as the strength isnt going to be there in a head on accident....think the grinder will be coming out one evening this week as im doing that may as well throw a pair of wings on as well:rolleyes: will post some pics of how bad it is tomorrow see what u all think:bang:

there are welds and its seam sealer

Ash

I know they should be welded in, but from what i can see and IMO, it is only there for the head lights and the radiator ...........

They are made to crumble on soft impact so it saves the chassis leg. so even if it is just bolted on be fine, but obviously if you can have it welded it on go for it!

Just my thinking anyway :)

no this is not seam sealer and its plastered on not brushed like the rest of the car and there are finger prints in it and one side only has 2 spots of bird s"*t welds holding it on so it is all coming off and being done properly:D its a good job i enjoy welding(y) not going to seam it on just going to stitch weld it so it will still has the crumple capability......at an educated guess i would say this has had a light frontal at some point and been badly repaired:cry:

here are the pics of the front o/s chassis rail to front panel situation and pics of the n/s as it should be in my eyes....opinions plz:worship:

That cars had a second hand front end put on. Everything should be spot welded together. Not in this case because it's from lack of equipment/too rusty to do. I'm suprised all the panels line up with the gaps in the cross member to inner wing sections.
If you dont have a spot welder then drill some holes and fill with weld.

couldnt agree with u more about the second hand front end well i would say by it that its just the o/s yet everything does line up:confused:god knows how but i will get the grinder out and clean everything up and see how bad it really is under all that silicone:cry:got the feeling its not going to be a pretty sight so i think it will time for some panel replacement:D

The front cross member stops major flexing of the inner wings and also has a towing point so it has to be strong..
The inner wings take a lot of stress from the suspension and an engine with gearbox hanging off them also as there is no subframe for support.

Well i can confirm a standard front end is well stuck on - i started doing slam panels once and gave up and scrapped the shell and started again with a fresh shell lol. I do have brand new slam panel in the shed though, both parts. PM me if your interested. As stated though, if it all lines up i'd be inclined to leave it and just strengthen it up a bit.

the cinq survived the riots even though the idiots were only 300 yards away from it and some were running past the house.....the morons even burnt the local church down(n)(n) not a church goer myself but hey its one place u dont vandalise etc but obviously they have no decency.....just scumbags(y)(y)
only got a few bits done and have taken the washer bottle out and i have now found that the slam panel/ffront panel are not welded at all on the drivers side,in fact if i lay on the ground and use my legs i can move the whole drivers corner away from the chassis......defo going to be welding...blu pm has been sent about the panels.....
few pics of the front hub assembly all cleaned and painted up both sides are done now and back on the car, just need to get the poly bushes for the lower arms and arb,on their way from poland in yellow:D:D
got the abarth steering wheel in and looks loads better than the old tatty yellow one(y)
also got the steering lock reducers in place all thanks to craig done a brilliant job and very quick shipping and im very happy so a massive thanks to craig but can anyone help me as i need the adapter for putting tb onto the inlet manifold:worship:

Looking good, and lucky that the plebs didn't notice it.

Are the yellow bushes the hard ones or the very hard ones?

the VERY hard ones had them on my cinq 3 years ago before the thread on here was started about them and they were brilliant and combined with upper and lower braces there was virtually no body roll:D:D:D

very quick update been a busy day and now the lower arms are all cleaned and painted and reassembled well as far as i can go till i get the poly bushes.......i know i was told dont bother as they will be wrecked within a week of been on the road but hey when it does come back i want everything done not have 1 bit not cleaned and painted up.....
