Yo fellow Stilos'
Altho only a minor irritation, my new Stilo 1.8 has a pretty squeaky clutch. I expect cos its new it just needs a bit of time, just wondering if anybody else has/had similar, and shall I get my wd40 out!..

It's a pretty common fault (on these fora anyway). Mine does it too. I know it seems extreme, but I would take it back to the dealer. Don't try and do it yourself.

Mine did it too. It is because of the high temprature. FIAT uses an oil in cream form for the pedal and this cream melts and the pedal starts "speaking". Because of the very high temprature here in Cyprus (40c - d**m too hot) i found the whole cream that was on the pedal on the floor. I took the car to the dealer (i agree with Lead) and they removed the cream and spreyed a liquid oil which is suitable for higher tempratures. And now the clutch is silent again...hope for ever [}:)]

Mine did this too, took it back and they "adjusted" it. They adjusted it so much, there was only 1" of travel in the pedal and I had to slam the clutch into the floor to have any chance of getting a gear [:(!]

Ended up popping into the garage where my mam works (Peugeot) and got one of the lads there to sort it for me :D Sick of Reg Vardy and their terrible aftercare and daft mechanics!! [xx(]

Hi there,
just wanted to tell you that my Stilo does the same squeaky nois from the clutch pedal and i also found the cream on the floor u mentioned, should i take it to the dealer or just wait until my service comes up? i mean is it something urgent ?
Thanks.
Great Forum by the way.

Its really annoying my friends stilo having the same problem had to turn up loud the volume of the stereo because his very nervous :p but no its not urgent if you are not nervus at all:D

Yo, took the car back in re the clutch. They did the obvious and put some more grease on, which has done the trick to stop the squeaking, so far. Hovever they said it did need a new small part to try and stop the clicking at the bottom, they didnt sound to confident tho! If it doesnt work then ill play hell!

I'll keep you posted.

Hi all!
Two months after the garage added some grease on my clutch the squeak came back and now i'm just waiting for a day off to revisit the dealer.
"ewi080" it isn't urgent i suppose but think what is the result of having things that need grease and you work them without it. Not good i guess :).

Ok thanks for the replies i'll be taking the car in anyway as it is due for service this month, i`ll keep u informed!
Thanks.

I took my car into the dealer yesterday (for a separate fault - see tech forum) but mentioned the squeeky clutch. They greased it but couldn't fix the squeek, so they are replacing one of the cylinders! Bit extreme in my opinion, but if it does the job. Won't know until Thursday, when they do the work.

Lead be sure to inform us if that solves the problem.
This might be a breakthrough on the subject!!! :)

I picked the car up Friday night and the squeak has gone.

To be perfectly honest it had gone after the first visit when they greased the pedal and before they (allegedly) replaced the clutch cylinder. The squeak hasn't reappeared over the weekend, so far so good. I will, of course, let you know if it re-surfaces.

Now for the bad news...

They got oil on the drivers seat!

I am taking it back to them today for a clean. Let's see how they behave this time.

I hate taking my cars to garages, they always seem to come away with more problems than they arrived with [:(!]
