Spring adjusters

Spring adjusters

doesn't bear thinking about ts....stick to the standard which does the job, or go the whole hog and spalsh on a proper set of coils and dampers, just the though of one of the straps coming loose fills me with dread!

Those things are best used when carrying heavy loads. as dave said its more to prevent bottoming out (when to springs n shocks collapse and make the car hit the wheels or the floor) then to provide a stiffer, safer ride.

if thats what your after buy some sport springs and some sport shocks, will cost you more but how much is your life worth?

Ok, guys, thanks for the feedback.

I've currently got my eye on a set of G-max springs/shocks kit. Just having thoughts about how to proceed as I believe an anti-roll bar would be a better idea to fit first.

If your planning just to drive on road then I'd get the suspension kit first. Its not likely you'll roll your car (unless your names Arc's Friend)

The lowering kit will provide you with a lower centre of gravity and a stiffer ride, so unless your driving a bus real fast you shuldn't really be rolling anywhere soon (y)

Plus low cars look sexy, do the right thing :D

But surely the anti-roll bar will reduce body roll, which is better handling?

I suppose either is better than nthoing, and both is best...

I Have them exact ones one the back of my car. I would reccomend them to anyone who needs to stiffen up their springs. My car is lowered on 15's, and so i need to minimize the amount of travel. However, if there is too little travel then you springs will not do their job.

They are so easy to put on aswell (y) , jack the car up, put on stands if you wish. Slide them in and clip them on.

These things aren't a gimmick, and do not wear as quick as you think. Mine are still on perfectly, and I don't exactly drive my car like a granny. :D

Cheers DJ Bucho for selling them to me :)

The problem with increased stiffness though is that it (the car) ends up making a meal of the many pot holes that modern cars would otherwise just glide over.

On that note, surely having a too stiff suspension would then cause greater wear to the other suspension parts such as the track arms etc. ??

Will these things actually work? How? And recommended for what (standard or uprated suspension) ?
They look like the sort of things sold back in the 80's for car's with sagging suspensions. I'd have thought they would have made the handling worse since the suspension travel has been reduced and when you hit a bump/pothole (plenty on the roads down my way) you'll get a big shock through the suspension mounts if the spring fully compresses without even hitting the bump stops which isn't good, also the shock passed on through the driveshaft won't do your gearbox any good. I'd rather fit new springs (£50-£70 for lowered springs) or better still save up for a suspension kit which our fellow forum members can give their opinions on the different kits available.
