hey guys, when i had a look at the car properly today, the headlights are covered in muddy water INSIDE the lense, has anyone stripped the lights down to clean them before??
I have the same problem as you. Iv asked people on the forum before and i got the general impression that they are a sod to split unless you are any good with the oven and can heat the bonding up enough to split them, without melting the actual unit itself!
when i had my golf i had a cracked lense, so i managed to cut the sealer away and open it up this way, just wondering if i can do the same without using heat
short answer...unless you're handy with a dremmel, splitting is a no-go.
Ive experimented to no end with OEM stilo headlights, and after-market ones (i think im the only person to have split the OEM lights). I tried the oven (which worked with my dectane ones), and the heat-gun (which also worked with the dectane ones). but neither of these worked with the OEM lights. in the end, i cut it open with a dremmel then glued it back with silicone, leak free, and clean
