Technical Speedo sensor position?

Hi
Can anyone tell me where the speedo sensor is on a Mark1 Punto.
Followed wires on the right hand side of the engine when stood at the front and looked underneath but nowt.

Right at the back top of gearbox -- above the differential.

Looked in the position mentioned but still can't see it.
Does the engine type make a difference this one a 1200cc 16 valve.
Is it accessible from the top or underneath?
Is there any diagrams online that I could look at?
