Technical Speedo Problems

I've recently bought my first Barchetta and I'm starting to work my way throught its list of problems

First one is the speedometer.

It's been converted from km/h to mph some time in it's life. But it only works intermittantly and the trip counter is knackered, so I guess I'm after a replacement.

I take it the UK market cars came with a MPH speedo.

I couldn't find anything on Ebay. Are any other FIAT speedos the same (a Punto for example) or is it a unique B item?

It's unique to the Barchetta. there are three types of speedo, UK is MPH rest of Europe KPH and Imported to UK having KPH clock with convertor to MPH.

You need to keep checking all the ebay sites i.e. UK, DE and FR but I would imagine it will be pretty hard to find an MPH one, more likely you will only pick up a KPH one

Is the converter some sort of additional unit rather than a modification to the speedo itself?

Not 100% sure as I've never had it off but must be a system of changing the gearing on the cable?
