Hi can anyone give me any help. New to this forum.

Just recently changed clutch on a scudo van and for whatever reason the speedo does not work which was working okay before. The gear from the sensor is rotating and also have put a new sensor in today. The needle on the speedo flickers but that is it. Cant understand what the problem could be.

Anybody got any ideas :bang:

Thanks for that I.ll give that a go next. But the pins/plugs do look clean.....

Has the new sensor got the correct gear?. They are colour coded. If the gear in the new one is a different colour then you can simply pull the gear out and swap it with the old one. Different colours have different amounts of teeth.

Thanks....unfortunately the sensor did not come with a new gear so am using the old one. Just dont understand why when it was working okay before it has suddenly decided not to work. Have rechecked that the gear is actually driving which it is so not as if it is the gear ring broken inside drive shaft.

Have provisionally checked wiring to the sensor via the plug, looks to be okay but I am going to check again but dont recall doing anything to the wiring whilst putting gear box back in so it should really be okay. Confused .........

mine the same not working where is the sensor your on about thanks

The sensor is on the end of passenger side drive shaft. Bolted onto the top of housing with one torque bolt. You undo the bolt and prise the sensor out. Easy to remove.

cheers trevor will have look at weekend do u need to jack it up for this

yes mate jack up the passenger side so you can get under the car and have a bit of room to work dont forget to use axle stand or something to make it safe. the sensor is just in a bit from the end of the drive shaft it has a Three pin plug on top it could have a cover over it just for protection just pull the clip which secures the plug pull the plug off undo the bolt the keeps sensor in position, thats it, sensor will come out. just be aware there is a drive gear which will come out with the sensor refit the gear to new sensor then fit back into postion

Oh well fingers99 tried your advice.....still no joy. Mileage is being recorded, checked it today, but speedo not registering.

Could it be the motor at back of speedo??
