I seem to have come across three different ones.

They all exit the cabin behind the clocks, and route alongside the heater box.

1 - N reg 899cc, exits through the sound deadening behind the ECU - single piece cable.
2 - M reg 899cc (no CODE system), as above, except a two-piece with the join under the ECU, right next to where it exits.
3 - R reg 1108cc, exits through a horizontal metal part under the heater box (or around there).

Unless 2 and 3 are the same, and are routed differently for 899 and 1108 gearboxes? Though they do seem to be different lengths, too (1 and 2 being of a similar length). Or perhaps 1 had a two piece, and was replaced with a one piece at some point?.

Also, would one from a Sei Sporting fit a Cinq Sporting as that's the nearest scrapped one of either to me come tomorrow morning. Does it usually go by year, or do I have to go up there and check anyway to be sure?

I would prefer a new cable, but it seems to be 3 weeks from Italy unless I pay over the top on fleabay.

Cheers

Most sei speedos are electronically driven rather than cable driven

The one in the scrapyard - it will need to be a very early model - 1998/99 (and not all 1999 either) more than likely for it to be cable driven but always worth investigation anyway

There is at least 2 different size cables, one for an 899 and 1108 and 1 and 2 piece ones also so your thinking totally makes sense, youve just been in the posistion of seeing all the possibilities

Sadly not

Take a look at various sei speedo cable threads from over the years, numerous people have different versions on different ages of car

A T plate is worth a look as its a 98/99 car

They arent going to check over the phone for you - they are a scrapyard business not a personal shopping business - you want it you forage/investigate yourself

Digital/anologue speedo readout is irrelevent - they were electronically driven on anologue dashes as well

That's a bugger, then. Best fetch the existing cable off the Cinq before I go then.

It's one of those scrappies that won't let you into the yard to get stuff yourself anyway, hence asking over the phone.

Ta very.

Turns out the Seicento was cable driven, but the engine was gone and whoever had it cut through all the cables :bang:

Also, mistake: on fetching the existing broke cable off my car it turns out it exits through a vertical plastic part, not metal, which is either underneath or a part of the heater box.

yarr, but it's a late one with various Sei bits fitted at the factory so this could end up being something slightly different too.

Phoned a FIAT dealer just in case they had one lying around, they ordered one and no one picked it up or whatever, apparently Uno ones have the same ends? Might be worth checking anything else from around then that I find, Tipos and Pandas too maybe? I'll have the two old halves with me to check against.

It probably is the same as any other, I'm just being paranoid due to some of the other stuff varying.

Right, speedo cables around here seem to be closely related to rocking horse poo and hen teeth.

What kind of condition is that one you've got in, was the speedo needle jumping at all and is the outer sleeve still intact? (seems mine had a cut which let the water in)

Oh, and deffo a single piece?

Brand new unused sleave single piece for 1.1s with ball connection on gearboxs with a little nip on them
