After stalling my 1.9 JTD multipla it wouldnt start again, it would turnover but not fire. After 20 mins it seem to fix itself, until i drove for another 10mins and it cut out with the computer reading engine fault. Again after 20mins it started again and yes you guessed it cut out again.

Called the AA who said it could be a speed or crank case sensor, they towed me to a Nationwide garage who read the fault as the speed sensor. They fixed and replace it for £55.

Out in it today and yes i stalled it and it happened all over again.

Does anyone have any experience in this, is stalling it (due to the stiff clutch related) starting the problem, or is it the case it wasnt the speed sensor but perhaps the crank case sensor with the computer reading out the wrong fault.

This is quite common on the JTD. Is normally the crank sensor. When the engine get hot, the crank sensor dies, and then only works again when it is cold.....untill it gets hot again and so on....

Thanks for the advice, I have read somewhere the crank case sensor can be faulty.

The car was taken back to the Nationwide garage (AA recommended) who fitted the sensor and i explained the fault had happened again. I mention your advise and that other users on this forum had experience similar problems and it may be the crank case...he said the computer was still reading speed sensor and that he could do no more and said send it to Fiat (no refund for repairing a car which is still faulty). So Fiat it is, we will see how this problem develops......
