Technical Speed limiter (actual not the silly beep)

My turn to ask a question mate has just bought a 1.3mjet GP s2 VAN (ex eon)




anyhow its got some form of speed limiter on it which restricts it to ahem 70 mph anyone come across one one is it a fitted unit or is it some magic trickery in the ecu? or body computer?

As it actually does about 65 mph.......

Oh yes full eon orange with go faster orange reflective stripes and chevron yellow and reflective red tailgate

I doubt going an extra 5mph will make a difference to his response times

Personally, I'd assume the ECU has been remapped or modified to restrict it.

I know a mate had a mk2 Punto 1.2 petrol limited to 70. Gave up trying to remove it in the end as it was that well ingrained within the car. I suspect also that its the ECU which has possibly been modified.

If that's the case, I'd have thought that there'd be a way to flash the ECU with the map from a standard vehicle to sort it out.

My thoughts exactly unless the entire ECU unit has been replaced with something different (unlikely but possible)

In which case, is a virginized ECU the way to go... -- or just too expensive as an experiment...?

That's the thing what he paid for it its a steal 66k miles very very detailed fleet fsh listing EVERYTHING ever done to it even down to a blown side light, tyres, brake pads drop links, leaky washer hose the lot!

Will be ECU. Just need the correct flasher of eBay and a kind member to donate ecu file. It may be like the 1.9 though and need the file to be checksumed.
