Tuning Speakers abit fuzzy

Hi,

I have just recently noticed a problem with my speakers as they cannot reach full potential in bass as they used to, i wasnt sure whether it was the wires connecting into the speakers of the speaker itself, therefore i purchased some brand new mutant speakers and fitted them however having the same problem. Does this meen its the wires connecting into the speakers that are faulty? as i have got some new wires with the speakers, somebody please help me out here.

What do you run the speakers off? Standard head unit, aftermarket headunit or an amp?

well i bought a jvc head unit about a year ago now and have had no problems with it, who do you think i should talk to about it?

Standard JVC headunits normally only have an internal amp of 4x 50 watts. RMS figures about 25-20 rms.

This means each speakers is only be powered by 20 watts and mutant fronts normally require about 70 watts. Your never gonna get them to run at their best (especially bassy) without an external amp.

I dont know much about amps, what wattage amp do i need if my speakers in total are 600W?

No they aren't, thats their max power, your speakers will never run at 600W. Whats the RMS wattage? Even better which speakers are they?

they are MUTANT MT6907 6" X 9" CAR SPEAKERS 300 WATTS, what size amp would you recommend?

Well apparently they are 150W RMS, so you need an amp that has two channels, each producing 150w RMS or as near as possible.
