General Spark plug

Hi Folks,

Can anybody tell me the exact type of the spark plugs in the Tjet 120?
Yes,I know these are Ngk platinum types,but I need exactly the stock nr.
The reason I want to know it,that I"m a bit confuseded about it.At the 30.000 km service check up,the service hadn"t got it,so they didnt change it.Thats all right,I can change them myself,just I l"d like to know the exact type.

Well only ones I can find listed by NGK themselves is for the 1.4 non turbo engine and that is part No:- DCPR7E-N-10

However ......

The Fiat Bravo handbook lists the 120/150 T-Jet plug as an NGK IKR9F8

- to use spark plugs specifically certified for the T-JET engine only, of the same type and brand (NGK IKR9F8);
- to replace the plugs as often as required by the Programmed Maintenance Plan;

Yes, i've read that. I just bought some denso iridium because i couldnt find ngk, and will try them

I've replaced my ngk with some denso iridium plugs, and everything is ok

please remove the denso plugs people i dont care how many fancy metals are listed on the packet denso plugs are crap

fiat and ngk between them will have desighned the engine and ignition system around the exact ngk plug you have so why change it there cheap enouth much cheaper than the denso iridiums you have i bet:bang: the standard plugs are iridium anyway

my brother is currently working with a team desighning and building a formula student car this is fitted with a bike engine brand new fitted with denso plugs it was running ok in standard form but after a little tuning and induction mods to increase performance it wouldnt start atall changed the plugs for the exact equivalent ngk and now it runs perfectly

and in my experience the vast majority of parts on fiats that are made by denso ecu's sensors and the like are rubish i always look at work to the manufacturer of parts that are failing and what fiat are replasing them with

normaly it's anything made in germany-grande punto door handles door locks

or denso and bosch mainly on electrics sensors ecu's

when these items fail fiat normaly start providing us with magneti mareli parts to replace-stilo ignition coils for example

denso starter motors were responsible for yanking too much current from bateries in punto mk2 face lifts and pandas with 1.2 8v engines stopping the ecu resulting in fiat having to replace them for a diferent brand and then introducing a remap to lower the cutoff voltage

right thats my rant for the day over
please put them in the bin

What is the spark plug gap meant to be on the Bravo T-Jet engines?

I can find no mention of it in the workshop manual CD I bought off eBay, just the recommended plugs (NGK IKR9F8).

I suspect that modern thinking is that if the gap is wrong, you need new plugs.

But unless messed about with then they shouldn't be wrong.....

Ah, really? No faffing about with feeler gauges setting the gap up then?

Times have changed since I last fitted spark plugs (I've almost always run diesel cars, only my first car was petrol, a 1990 H-Reg Fiesta 1.1. And now my Bravo)

When I used to do my own servicing, the gap used to widen because the electrodes were gradually burnt away. I didn't "mess about" with them.
