Does anyone know where you can order spare blank keys for a 500f? I went to my local Timpsons back at the beginning of September to order spare ignition and door lock keys, as I only have one of each and I'm paranoid I'm going to lose my only set. They keep trying to order replacements, but it has been over 3 months now and they still haven't received them from their supplier.

Thanks,
Matt

Not sure about the Fiat keys, but I had the same issue with my 1977 Alfa spider. I only had one key and that was broken. My local hardware store matched the key up with a common key blank, I Super Glued the old key together and they cut me new keys.

The important part of the key is only the part that goes in the lock. The key I had made looks nothing like the original key, but the all important part that goes in the lock is correct. If you are trying to get a key that looks like the original that may be the problem. These original blanks come up on ebay every once and a while, but people want stupid money for them.

Thanks John. To be honest, I'm not bothered if the spares don't look like the originals, as long as the doors still open and the car starts! Next time I'm passing the locksmiths I'll see if there any other keys that fit the bill. After losing my only set in a supermarket (luckily someone found them in a trolley and handed them in) I just want some spares.

Matt,

Try these guys - I got a few spare blanks for my Alfa from them a couple of years ago. From memory we divided an order amongst a few of us in the club as I think they may have a minimum order number.

They have the correct Silca blanks for Fiats, they aren't expensive and conveniently for me, they have a subsidiary in Australia.

You may need to know the ID code number stamped on the back of the key.

The important thing I acquired made looks nothing can beat the first key, though the all essential part that gets into the secure is appropriate. If you are attempting to get a vital that looks like the original which might be the issue.

Thanks Chris, the Silica keys match my key code, so I'll get some ordered.

I had a call today from a local locksmith who reckons he has had some blanks come in to suit my 1965 Fiat 500F. I ordered them weeks ago! I shall take the keys in to him tomorrow and see if can actually cut them to match. I shall keep you posted! Fingers crossed!

Hi Ian,

I'm definitely interested if you have any details on the keys.

Thanks,
Matt

Do tell them I sent you, I promised to put their details on the classic Fiat 500 forum! I found their service was great! The blanks took a while to order, but they identified them correctly and found a supplier.
