Technical Sounds like something is about to break...

Hi guys,

When opening my drivers side door, theres a very loud noise, something between a creek and a bang. I've not had any issues opening or closing the door, and the sound only happens when the door is partially open, so about 2/5 of the way open if i had to guess.

Is this likely to be a check strap about to fail? or is something else about to give way?

Deffo the check strap. FIAT changed the design from pure metal to plastic-coated to improve this. If you get the strap from a FIAT dealer it will be the modified design.

Yep I second that mine went and made the exact same noise. The mechinism just falls to pieces .Replacement is relitivly easy. You need to remove the door card to get access to it as you extract it from the inside of the door.

I was going to ask about fiat price as I could do with changing my back door ones but looked at that ebay link. 40 quid each

Ill just suffer the noise I think.
