Well hello to everyone and hope my newbie like questions are not to dumb

I have just replaced the factory fitted headunit in my 03' punto as it ate a cd and was turning itself on after the iginition was turned off.

so not know much about cars I went and got this unit as it seemed to offer all the features I wanted and I didn't want anything too flash.

So I have fitted the above unit after some messing about getting it fitted I have noticed that the unit doesn't turn off when the ignition is switched off. So I have to manually turn it off. :(

now the unit came with some fantastic instructions and gave three wiring diagrams for the power connectors:

Now I don't know if others are like this but I have crossed over the red and yellow leads as the sub would not work with cd's when the leads were left as they were ie red -- red, yellow -- yellow.

So i have tried all the wiring options and the third one which has both cables going into the yellow cable which mentions something to do without ACC position (not sure what ACC is)

so any ideas how I can get this to do something similar to the original fiat fitted unit. (so when ignition is switched off the stereo turns off)

many thanks in advance for any help given.

acc is for accessory on the ignition switch.some cars have a setting to allow the radio etc to work without turning the ignition off.
now put simply the HU has 2 modes.
it has constant power(live)which is for keeping the memory
and switched live for power on

now this tends to be the ignition live wire in the diagrams.
at the moment you have this wire hooked up to constant power hence why you have to manually turn it off.

so does any of the diagrams fit this?

yes it is. I am using the middle one of the three. Is that wrong?

cheers for the quick reply

well it depends on how the newer puntos are wired.
i know on my Va(censored non fiat car!)tra it has constant power and the HU controls whether it was switched no manually engine off or whether it was switched on with the ingnition.
is the punto the same?
if so and it only has constant power then its a simple matter of using a seperate ignition live and running it into the yellow(switched) supply.
hopefully the punto owners will confirm.
as for the sub problem, was that the OE fiat sub?
if so then again it will need a certain wiring configuration to recieve power

the mk2 punto has a constant power supply to the hu, wire the red & yellow to the yellow double connector, to turn the hu off all you have to do is remove the face off, i've done this ever since i owned my mk2 (2.5yrs) and the hu has never remained on and drained the batt
