Hi everyone

I have decided to buy a Scudo 8 seater mpv so I hope I am in the right section. My concern is I am looking at some about three years old (13 plates) they seem to be about 12000 to about 40 odd thousand.

I really like the look etc and it will fit what I need exactly, two very large dobermans and carry kit etc so middle seats out back seats left in.

Done loads of research and like these.

Problem is and it is others not mine and everyone I talk or when I google says don't go near Fiat or these as I will get nothing but trouble. So I thought I would ask here, I don't believe it because they would be out of business but please can any of you share your views. I would be very apritiative and would stop me worries

Cheers

Ian

I can't speak for the scudo in particular, but these friends, have any of them owned a fiat? I have owned a few including one 10yr/100k miles, one 3 weeks old at purchase kept for 4 years, currently in a 2007 bravo (weakpoint is the Vauxhall gearbox) that's coming up for the 100k club, all had problems though minor & inexpensive they haven't put me off

I've also had 3 hondas, you know, bulletproof, last forever etc, spent more on fixing them than i did any of the fiats

Point is, find a car that 'doesn't' have problems, VW, Ford, Vauxhall Peugeot all have something similar, all will have their issues

As long as they've been looked after properly, they're just as good as anything else and with a forum like this, when (there WILL be, read through and see if there's anything puts you off) there are any issues no doubt someone will be able to find a fix or give advice

Hi Ian,

they are pretty tough little vans, (y)
very similar to the Citroen , and Peugeot ( all vans are built by a joint venture partnership)

biggest issue is with DPF diesels that don't do enough miles, and go the clueless garages for "cheap" servicing..that costs more money as they can only do half the job:bang:

what engine / what kind of mileage or driving do you do..??

Hi Charlie

Thank you so much for responding I am looking at something like this

Fiat Scudo 2.0 JTD Multijet L2 Panorama Family 5 Seater. 130 bhp I think

Probably do about 10k a year so not that much, it will be the main transport.

I get what you say about moody services, I looked at one yesterday from one of those big warehouse place, 12000 miles on a 13 plate just one stamp at 7900 and it was not a main dealer strange for the first one then nothing else.

So I suppose it will be usual main car driving around town and also trips away. Probably not the best for a van based vehicle but who knows.

It is strange though that nearly everyone I find advertised is on a 13 plate and between 30000-40 plus k. Is there perhaps a major just out of warranty thing?

Thanks again for your response.

Cheers

Possibly ex PCP or lease. Maybe they had a promotion on the model in 2013.

Fiats are no different from anything else, ther are good and bad. 10K a year is OK for a diesel (unless it's 5 or 6 well spaced short trips a day).
