Me and "My Little Punto" went ice skating last week, and well it turns out we are not very good at it, long story short I need a couple of "new parts"

I am pretty sure the engine part of the car is fine, its just the outer shell of the car, ill get that checked out before I do anything else, and get ahead of myself.

So 3 new parts I WILL need

1) headlights
2) bumper
3) passenger side wing

So ive found a couple of parts (bumper and headlights online) so I was wondering what kind of price I should be looking at, for the parts.

I am a little bit annoyed I need to get a full new bumper but such is life. I am willing to get headlights new for obvious reasons. What kind of price for new / second hand (scrap) should I be looking at? I may be willing to pay a little bit more for the right colour (or close to) for the bumper and side panel. Put it this way more for a black bumper than a pink one (my car being grey)

Its a Mk 2 Punto, Dynamic (3 Door Hatchback) from 2005.

yes I have some pictures, first one does not show a whole lot, about from how damager my bumper isnt.

I think I can salvage the bonet, would be a tragedy to have to replace it based on that amount of damage.

I wouldn't say the damage is too bad so you could just get away with repairing the bonnet, replacing the bumper, wing and lights. Just make sure to check when you take all the parts off the car.

The Prices...

Lights - about £100 a pair from ebay, new
Bumper - about £40-50
Wing - about £50-60 scrappy or ebay. Mind, you might be able to get it a bit cheaper from scrappy

as hitherematey says source the headlight off the bay
new wings are about £40
bonnets work out at approx £100
bumper shells usually about £50 plus the grilles and top scuff panel, you only seem to have the o/s grille in the bumper missing these are about £12 each,i always put a self tapper in them when i replace them as i only buy copies, the rest of the bits are transferable but the scuff bar comes off easy if you follow along the tabs with a heat gun as you withdraw it

all these prices are what i usually pay which is trade ish or looking on eeebay which is always a good source for bits

a bodyshop wont repair your bonnet its too bad and be careful with the paint because theres more than one shade of grigio and its a devil to get right on this age of car
colour code on inside of bonnet buy the best base coat you can afford ideally the make its says on the sticker

dont throw away the wing because if you do buy new then part of the wing is extra so to keep costs down you chop it off and transfer to the new wing

sorry to hear your woes at this time of year too

s-and-b I guess I will need to do SOMETHING to the bonet even if a body shop isn't interested, thats surprising.

Confess I forgot about the OS grill.

Thanks for the warning about "grigio"

Its a good job, my skills at repairing cars, extends as far as buying parts off eBay ;)

I think I found a black bumper, which would I could get away with not respraying, but it is more expensive than a couple of quotes from online quoting website, which I may have rushed into getting quotes from last night.

That for a pattern part or genuine

Patern parts can cause all manner of issues with panel gaps!

And what makes you say the bonnet isn't repairable? Any confident panel beater should be able to fix it (y)

me:D
i do it for a living
you could bodge it with some big hammers and a tub of easy1 but you wont be able to a localised repair and make it good so you need a replacement bonnet
i get my wings from here http://www.crashrepairparts.com/par.../fiat_punto_door_hatchback_2003_2006?_ts=1927 but have a trade account,im sure as i said an ebay foray will pull up cheaper
of course these are pattern parts why would you want to fit original and these wings fit with no issues its old wings for transits and fiestas that used to fit badly, have you priced up any panels from fiat dealers lately? i have and i had to sit down even though i beat them down tremendously you are into pandas by your name try and price bonnets and headlights up for these cars headlightsa are ridiculous prices ive stopped repairing them for the time being

I'm fully aware of the Fiat prices, hence the comment on the prices I made in post 2.

I believe that's the same company I purchased a pair of patern part wings from for a 2009 Panda about 18 months ago from through ebay. Awful things for panel gap, but perhaps the Punto wings are better

A shame about the bonnet though :(

I am so pleased to join the "to pattern fit or not pattern fit" debate.

Need to speak to a guy I know before I make purchasing decisions, but obviously its Christmas, so that may not be tomorrow.

s and b do you suggest smoething like this? well if I was trade, ill have to look into that.

I was looking at this bumper but I might go another way. These headlights still seem good.

Still think its odd the bonnet is going to need replacing, not looking for it to be as new.

The Bumper is ruined Full Stop
However the law say No Sharp Bits
The first port of call is that light and a Roll of duct tape, get that crack "masked" preventing any sharp bits, and prevent anything coming off

The light is a MOT failure, so no driving it on the road at all, the rozzers will have a field day on you

The Bonnet is and bumper can wait if they dont clash (with the new light) and there covered up for now if money is seriously too tight

Ziggy

Be aware there are two different headlights for the mk2b I only realised this when I parked my 1.3multijet nose to nose with my other halfs 1.9hgt to find her lights have a different arrangement arround the main head light bulb to mine

If planning on buying cheap patern parts and having to paint then it is always worth considering second hand genuine parts

Looks like a pretty tidy car from the pics I can only imagine how gutted you must be. (I really want your wheels on mine)

I know the previous owner, and I know he kept it in good condition, and I do my best. I am not pleased at all, first of all for me personally I feel I could have reacted better (but lets not go into that here), and second of course it is a nice looking car, I may have ruined that. Im also pissed off im 3rd party, not fully comp, meaning ive got to sort this myself. Something outside of my comfort zone.

I would point out that the tyres are new at this years MOT.

However those pictures do not show the muddy rear, that needs a good wash. Also my passenger side has a "few" chocolate wrappers in the foot-well.

As for the headlights would you care to speculate as to which type I have, and how I can tell if the ones I posted in Post11 are good or not? Best I can tell they are correct.

Trying the compare pics this is what I've noticed
Your car seems to be much like my late 2004 dynamic where by the bulbs are clear to see in the head light enclosure through the glass

If you look at the Pic on eBay and zoom in on the main beam bulb you'll see the bulb is hidden/obscured by a metal cage type thing (technical I know) this is more like the headlights in my other halfs early 2004 HGT it's a really small difference and people will tell you it makes no difference I dont doubt but I've noticed a marked difference between how much brighter my lights are compared to her HGT
If you have no option but to buy one which is different to you current light then maybe you might have to change both left and right units? What ever the case better to know now before you part with any money

AndyRKett thank you for your post and obviously best to know now.

I may however have to take a "if it fits, its the right part" approach on this one. I am more worried about mishapen and miscoloured panels, than I am a slightly dimmed headlight which most of the time I only ever use on dipped anywyas.

Please take that in the spirit in which it was intended.

my car (as it should be)

eBay Part

I would be wrong to get this? im not even sure its going to fit, and if im going to have to get a new bumper (Fiat or Pattern Copy), it might as well be new.
