Technical Smoky on startup

Hi,
I have a Fiat Ducato 1.9td. I get white smoke & some black sooty bits on start up. Engine starts great and its just had m.o.t.so emissions must be ok.
Iwondered if it was glowplugs although one is very tight and I haven't changed for fear of snapping it of. Other 3 glow plugs changed 10000miles.

Hi, Before doing anything mechanical, I would be tempted to do the trick of adding 2 stroke oil to your diesel at a ratio of 200:1. This helps with combustion and upper cylinder lubrication. My van, however, is a 1996 1.9td. You dont't give the age of yours in your post. All the Best, Ian.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is a 2000 model probably much the same as yours.
I will give 2 stroke oil a try
