You can't deny the immediately spikey response from your man. It would have been far more welcoming and would have been much easier not to be so stand-offish at that moment.

No, object away if you must, but you still haven't actually answered the question. As far as I can tell you have so far suggested that you can't cut toughened glass at all as it has to be cut to shape before it is tempered. Fair enough so that's a non starter. Laminated glass you suggest has to be shaped after it is cut for a specific application. The question is, given that a Panda windscreen is flat so no shaping is involved, is getting one cut to order any more of a realistic option than one with complex curves involved?
Also that you consider an axe an inappropriate tool for glass work and therefore don't keep one in your toolbox. Fair enough, also valuable info
I am still curious about the cut to order thing though, while we've got an expert on hand and all..

At last, some lateral thinking.
Moving on, I'm not sure why anyone would want to cut a Panda screen from a sheet of flam; I can't see the point. Any forward facing glass must comply to a standard and thus must show the relevant marking. It seems a lot of faffing about when a new screen, ready to fit is fairly inexpensive. At a guess, I would say the average cost of such a screen fitted would be <150-quid, or even two figures if you know how to fit one.

To answer your question the point is not so much cost as availability, with the newest of these cars in the UK nudging 20 years old now even big nationals often don't seem to have them on the shelf (and rarity means not much chance of a cheap deal too). Fitting isn't so much of a problem on these things, you're not talking about a bonded screen here, it's just a flat sheet held in with a rubber so most of us can tackle it ourselves.

There are plenty of clear screens available (can't see any stock for the green version) and that's looking at the (current) stock two (out of four) suppliers are holding.
I don't see any reason to suggest they're in short supply.

I think Mr Glassman that you should understand that you are speaking to a small family in the FF Classic Panda section. We are friendly, non-aggressive, and look after the interests of each other in a non-aggressive way.
I agree with Portland Bill . The internet has protocols as well and just posting a confused face is the same as saying to a complete stranger in public that you think they are talking rubbish.
By all means correct anything you feel is wrong, but do it in an informative way.

I have just read soem of the reviews on "Paul's" website, and assuming of course they are all genuine, he has a lot of happy customers, so maybe he is a good chap and all this was an unnecessary spat over a small thing? A mis-reading of a comminity atomosphere?

All reviews are paid for, or written myself; of course they're all genuine!
Free Index has a fairly good way of verifying them but moody reviews are not impossible. However creating over 100 dodgy accounts for the sake of trying to make me or my business look good would be a monumental clusterf*ck.

The stock I checked is available nationally. If anyone still has an appetite for facts, one stockist has a massive distribution centre in Bardon, Leics; another has one the size of a small county in Redditch; another: Birmingham... Pinxton, Notts... all running daily/overnight shuttles to feed their outlets dotted all over the UK.
If you really want a screen, getting one is easy. If you're in Manchester and want to deal with an independent rather than one of the monolithic businesses, try Pro Fit in Trafford Park. Tony is a sound bloke and has been around the trade for years.
Dave: it's time to leave it alone.
