Technical Slow operating Wipers

Technical Slow operating Wipers

Today I've learned more.

It worked fine this morning when the car was turned on, fast.

Driving at 60mph for about 40 minutes in 5th with about 3000 revs. Fan speed 2, side lights on, radio on, 12v socket on and wipers on Speed 1 and half way it starts going slow.

So I turned off everything except the radio and sidelights whilst driving and a minute later FAST wipers again.

I'm suspecting some sort of problem with the battery or alternator? But then.. isn't the EPAS the first thing to take a hit when the battery/alternator is weak?

The wipers are somehow capable of correct operation, though at times something is causing them to be in a 'limp mode' of their own.

Hope this sheds more light on the situation.

As the worked fine last night, we never looked at them but I'll probably be looking at it tomorrow now

Check the date on your battery terminals if you don't already know how old it is. (Usually stamped on terminals if it's not a factory fitted battery)
I've had this happen before where wipers have slowed right down due to a dud battery which hasn't totally given up on me a few days later. Could just be a partially dead cell would be enough to do it
Worth getting it tested somewhere. Or if it is 5+ years old I would just buy a new one for what it's worth

Hello guys, another technical wonder of mines...

Why are my Panda's wipers operating at the same slow speed regardless of the level I set them to?

All other electrical systems are fine and haven't even had the EPAS cut off in ages either.

Especially with the icy weather we're having I'd like to get this sorted hopefully as soon as I can.
Hello AGAIN! well here's the thing, I also had the same problem, I think I was told that my problem was possibly caused by my using fairy liquid for screen wash causing the wiper blades to drag across the screen. may be just coincidence but soon as I put some screen wash we use for our buses it rectified itself after a while! May be just coincidence of course but I did lift the wiper blades off the windscreen and without friction they wouldn't change speed! I'm convinced it's some software program or water ingress into the wiring loom causing a short? My wiring under the vents were somewhat 'suspect' with wires showing through the coverings which I thought id 'sorted'
Well having a Panda is like a Pandora's box I guess, you never know whats going to happen next! I still love my panda no matter what and as you all know, I named her 'marmite' as you either love for or hate her'! Mind you my local garage may have other ideas!

Fairy Liquid is thickened with salt so expect rust on anything the screen wash water touched. Get it cleaned out and treated with proper water displacer. WD40 will do but proper deserving liquid is (much) better.
