As per the two posts above the valve clearances can be adjusted, however, they use bucket and shims. This means that when set the clearances generally don't need adjusting for very long periods (on a well maintained engine), but when they do it requires more work than with screw and lock nut type adjustment.
First things first, to identify if it is indeed your tappets that need adjusting, check them all for clearances first. You can do this easily with a set of feeler gauges and a Haynes manual in about 20 minutes. Make a note of the clearances and their corresponding valves as you will need to calculate the shims needed if any need changing. If you do need to change them you MUST make sure you identify each shim and its corresponding valve as to calculate the new shim needed you need to know the measured clearance of the valve and its corresponding shim (you may need to measure the shim with a micrometer). Even from the factory not all shims will be the same size across all valves.
Good luck!
