One thing not considered so far in our musings is the electric connection between door and van - it’s the sprung loaded multi pin that connects with a static receiver plate. Might be worth giving the brass surfaces a clean and check the power and earth for adequate voltage. If the latch motor is getting inadequate voltage due to corrosion resistance it could prevent the unlocking element of the latch….worth a check before parting with your hard earned.

Where would that be located?

Right hand side of door frame - knee height - has 3 sometimes more contact points - other part is on the right side of the door.

Thanks I know what your talking about I’ll give that a clean first as it does seem strange that once its been opened (after being unlocked) it opens every time from the outside handle which logically would suggest the handle and cables must be ok and its not being released after being unlocked via the central locking
