Slicing up wires...

Lo peeps..

This is very random I know, but Im confused...

I want to change the position of the ultrasonic sensors in my car (the things the alarm uses to sense for glass breakage), as I want to swap their position with the front tweeters - cos they are fouling the sunvisors (and hence destroying the speakers)

Thing is... I really cant figure out whether me lengthening this wire will affect the alarm operation at all (the system could be so finely tuned that the additional length could cause it to stop working).

Anyone had any experiencing installing alarms that sue ultrasonics, and could advise on this?

hey tom,

the ultrasonics on mine have a fair bit of extra wire hidden underneath the dash - yours might be the same and provide you with enough length to make your adjustments.

As far as I am aware ultrasonic sensors are basically microphones, so lengthening the cable shouldn't effect their performacnce too much, and what will probably happen is the alarm unit will be able to recalibrate its self accordingly (if thats even necessary)
