Styling Slammin 17s on a punto mk2b

Any idea if the Punto mk2b will lower with 17s without out ruining the wheel arch.

If so by how much ?

Also someone from a previous post said I probably wont fit the 17s Does this mean £550 out of pocket ? Got emm from www.stxstyling.co.uk. Anyone know there policy if somthing doesn't fit. (Spoke to the guy on the phone for like 30mins and he confirmed they would fit etc.)

Depends on the wheels, tyres, if spacers are needed and the amount to be lowered, you can go very low on 17"s with the right setup.

Ideally you need to post all the details on your wheels and the tyres on them.

205's are too wide. i had 205/50/16's fitted on my alloys when i got them with no drop and it rubbed front and back. rears would have been fine with spacers but fronts rubber on full lock. best bet would prob be 195/35/17, may get 195/40's on there but depends on how much u slam it. also depends on the alloy offset.

Mate, you saying these don't fit correctly without out rubbing? Cause I have actually already got them. Not fitted yet, was gathering all my stuff before fitting it.

the alloys fit but the tyres are to big so you will get rubbing when you go round corners

205/40/17 is fine. We need to know what the offset of the wheel is, if the offset is fine then they wont rub, if its wrong then they will rub.

im saying they didnt fit my car. 205's may be slightly different on a 17" alloy but not sure. fit em and see. keep handbrake off and rotate the rear wheels by hand to check if there is any rubbing on the suspension etc, if that seems fine, drop the car off the jack and have a check see if there still no rubbing. do the same with the fronts, obviously turning the wheels to check on rubbing there too. u wanna test drive it all as well... slowly with the windows open so u can hear if there is any rubbing of any sort. can always remove the arch liner in the front for rubbing on full lock, but not recomended as it keeps crap from getting up in ur engine bay, but always the chance that it could hit the actual arches in which case u may need to consider rolling the arches. there is also a chance some spacers fitted may solve all ur problems, but if u can, get hubcentric spacers as they will have less impact on ur wheel barings and the such. another thing to keep into account is the rolling radius of the wheel... the car is designed to work with 165/70/14 tyres. anything larger or smaller than that will put the speedo out so u want to lower the tyre profile the bigger the wheel to keep it as close to the original radius as u can. its a harsh reality, but simple facts. got my alloys for what i thought was a bargain... until i had to fork out another 230 quid on a new set of tyres. live and learn.

The OP has bought the wheels with no advice. There's nothing to lose now, so why not just fit them and take a careful test drive. If they are the wrong offsets and rub, sort out the contact points. If its too bad put the old wheels back and suck up the wasted money.

Bearing in mind the effects on insurance costs, just chucking the new wheels may be the cheaper option.

Mine fit perfectly dropped on 50mm eibachs, no spacers, 205 40s, no rubbing at the front

I cant get a refund Iv left it to late for anything like that, and tbh Im not lowering it to the max I live in a street with pishy bumps. Prolly go for 35/55mm

if you have bought wheels with the wrong offset it dont matter how not low you go, there is still going to be problems, That is why we have the FAQ's section for reading before you buy

Im not sure if the offset is incorrect, the guy told me it was all digitaly balanced and will fit. I will fit them to see if everything is good and I'll take it from there But do you think they won't fit from the sizes of tyres I wrote earlier in this thread.

i guess the digitaly balanced bit is noting to do with the offset, that mean the tyre has been balanced
