Still running with the OEM audio unit in my Schumi. Playing CDs now results in music skipping. Tried the usual CD lens cleaning without success. Any other DIY tips out there that might cure this?

If you're absolutely sure the lens is now clean, I'm not sure what else you can do. Cd players aren't really serviceable to most people.
It could be a number of things. Faulty capacitors, collapsing lense or failing spindle..even dirt around the motor or cogs can throw it off. These are the more typical failings in a drive. The DAC, board or wire damage etc.
Which unit have you got? The normal stereo or one of the more fancy things?

Phil, you are South West but roughly where? And would you mind a black head unit? I took mine out last year and kept it. I have the radio code as well as it came with my security and key codes. I'd be willing to part with it for not a lot.
