site slow?

Great to hear. And hopefully that also helped others who didn't report it ❤️

The solution to the temporary black screen is.... Never log out 😜

In seriousness, I'm not sure what I can do about that except apologize for the issue. I always stay logged in because I need to keep alerts coming in.
I do log out regularly.
Strange it is a fault that has developed, computer unchanged and all updates installed etc.
Just logged out a minute ago and it did it again.

Started up PC this morning as usual just around 7:30 ish, read and commented on some Forum stuff, went to log out and it froze, then screen went black, it recovered it's self and closed the Forum site correctly.
It has done this several times now, but after your recent work site has been quicker and generally more stable, so appears to be on logging out.
Not a problem using other sites, only Fiat Forum with my Distro: Linux Mint 22.1 Xia base: Ubuntu 24.04 noble and FireFox etc.
No system error reports.

Why are you logging out ?

I just come and go with no regard to logging in and out :)

As far as I know, once you are not actually on the site looking it logs you out anyway (but my browser logs me back in when I return)

Ben might be able to describe what exactly happens when a user goes away from the site

Ben asked that, but even from years ago on 286 computers I always have and closed down computers when not using.
Also with large family in the past it has stopped them messing with my computers and kept them more stable, as I always ran antivirus etc. on shutting down, along with clearing cookies. Whereas the computers I built for the rest of the family soon slowed down , full of junk.:)

I just had a weird one.......

I use firefox.... and it's running most of the time.....

I tried to access Fiatforum and it just hung there trying to find it .... restarted a tab a few times and reentered fiatforum... stilll no joy

Every other tab was working , google etc and every other site.

Strange, I tried my phone (on the same network) , that loaded up fiatforum fine... tried firefox again and still stalled on fiatforum....

So I tried Edge (which I don't really use but you can't get rid of it), that loaded up fine !!!

So I went back to firefox and tried one more time, STILL stalled looking for you

So I closed firefox entirely and restarted it , then went straight to open previous session/tabs

And it worked ?!?!?!??!

Although faster than it was I am still having issues where it stops then screen goes black, sometimes it recovers and others I have to reboot computer.
This is LinuxMint 22.1 and latest Firefox version.
I thought it was only on logging out, but other times as well.:(

I often (well, from time to time) get the whole internet freezing up on me when on firefox..... BUT it's when FF has just updated itself. during use

So when I find all the internet not working (on firefox) I usually sense 'oh it's done an update' and I'll close and restart and it's all back to normal - and it'll always announce that it's just updated via a self created tab.

But that last fiat forum was not one of those update moments, as every other site and tab was working perfectly normally (I even tried a brand new tab and tried to load fiatforum from that new tab) - and it didn't announce that it had just updated)
It was just Fiatforum that it didn't like (until I restarted FF)

It does seem to be a Fiat Forum specific issue/conflict.:(
