Single Wiper...

Righto,

I'm not looking for a flaming here or anything so unless you have something that can help me, please don't say anything.

I've been pondering a while just what is involved in one of these "Storm Single Wiper Conversion kits".
After looking at a kit for sale on ebay it looks like its just a modified linkage and no mods to the existing motor.
If thats so, would it just be a case of making up a linkage to get a bigger sweep for a single wiper?

I looked at these as well Dan, but wasnt sure about how it is actually mounted, plus I heard they were unreliable and didnt last too long, there was another one which seemed better but cant think of the name now sorry.

Asked for help on here and was shot down in flames so didnt bother after that

Dan,

I had a good look over the mechanism when replacing it on my old motor. Basically you will need a small metal bar to extend the sweep of the centre wiper and that is it! Really is that simple.

HOWEVER, you may also not that the left wiper IS NOT placed in the centre of the car. The main problem you will have is relocating the motor so it sits directly in the centre of the windscreen as well as amending all the plastic moulding at the bottom of the windscreen

And additional to that you will struggle to get a sunstrip on too that will not be swept with a single wiper large enough to wipe for ya

so despite being able to fabricate a smaller linkage I would have to make a new plastic schroud (or fibreglass the exisiting one smooth)...

long and short, a balls ache...

Why is it I've caught the modding bug 3 weeks before the shows start again GRRRRRRRRR!!!

Oh well, hopefully have my new bumper painted in time
