One other thing about strain/ stress on the linkage. I have to admit that I dont think its a major issue.

Im actually brazing the linkage together, primarily because I cant weld, and brazing only needs a blowtorch, which ive got already so its cheaper. Im using silver as a joining metal and this has a strength similar to steel. Or its defo strong enough.

i can't weld either - i had to drive, in the rain, manually clearing the screen at the traffic lights [:0]

HI Y'all sorry for the delay I was awaiting the return of the digital camera.

Heres what I have done so far

The Original Setup

My Setup, notice motor to pivot arm is reversed! - Previous to current band of mods gave 65-75% sweep!!

Wiper arm end (the part that rotates), shortened by 20mm

Pls note this hasnt yet been put in the car, but with the above end shortened by 10mm the linkage gave 65-75% sweep

you took yours apart a hell of a lot more than i did!

mine was welded with the motor still attached!

Put the linkage in the car earlier - with the 20m extension- it sweeps too far and the pivot ball pops off-. I attempted to shorten the main bar by 10mm, but that means it doesnt do a full sweep. When I find the feckin' bit that I removed to shorten by 10mm- I will put that back in and shorten the bar shortened by 20mm by 15mm.

That (I think) would give a full sweep!!

hello i have a wipper from a uno on my chinq the only thing i am not happy with is that it won't stand in the middle (don't pay any attention on my englisch because i am from holland)

surely if you slaken the bolt that attaches the mechanism to the motor, move the whole mechanism until the wiper is in the middle, and tighten the bolt again then it will work?

That should do it.. the only thing stopping anyone from doing that is the fact that its illegal in the UK!

Oh yes- I put the Newly shortened linkage (now there's only 5mm total taken off) in the car. It swept as much as it should- around 80% of the screen.

THe only problem is that as it reached the max. point- it snapped after catching on a fixing point for a cover for the heater. So it works fairly well, just needs welding back together as the brazed links are not strong enough.

So Ill fix it soon and get it back in!!

Yes, I am also lost, but I think I'm Getting there- I need to source someone proficient in Arc Welding to fix my lnkage, but i think im nearly there!!
