Have i missed something here? I didn't mean this weekend, I meant next weekend which is the weekend after the coming weekend.

Weekend weekend weekend. If i had £100 everytime I said that then!

Next weekend is always the NEXT WEEKEND. The following weekend is the WEEKEND AFTER NEXT. I thought everyone knew that. :p

:yeahthat: next weekend is this weekend, just like the next day is tomorrow, which is Thursday :p

What is it with the word "next"? Often when telling a learner "take the next road on the left", they reply, "What, this one?". Drives me nuts.

I was brought up (sometime in the Neolithic, possibly...) to believe that the coming weekend was "this" weekend, and the following weekend was "next". This also applies/d to days: i.e. tomorrow is "this Friday"; and the day two days before Super Sausage Day is "next Friday". However, on reflection, this makes very little sense -- but I do understand where Sweex was coming from....

I'll get my coat.... :(

We had a police driving instructor and examiner (who is also an IAM examiner) come and talk to us at our IAM advanced driving classroom session, last night. He told us that they would often tell new police drivers to "take the next available right" just before a road with a no entry sign.
