General should i remove my induction kit

i 110% agree with adams92 you are completly right mate...its a 1.2 basic first car favourite for cheap insurance...you never in your life going to get much more power out of it and the amount that you will is pointless because everyother car (beamers, golfs ect...) will always be faster than you if the person drivin decides to put there foot down

i will admit i have thrown stupid money at my punto and i am going to make a long stainless induction kit but thats just because i enjoy working on cars as im a mechanic i like modifing cars and making them look goood also i get bord a lot lmao like to try differentthinngs and expiriment opnly way to gain expirience and as long as you can admit and see when your wrong there is no harm in it...but some people cant see the wrong :p

i can also tune cars for power aswel font get me wrong doing me mates dads toyota supra 3.0l at the moment stripping engine down and rebuilds...as much as i hate VW's a golf GTI can be near to doubled in power if done right i mean come on it is designed for power not the basic model.

cant you read???

i said i agree with him i just do all my mods for fun not bothered about performance hence why i am making a long induction...leanr to read before you comment mate

i know he said short is better read irt again and ul realise i wrote that i wont to make a long one knowing that i will loose performance

wasn't the op worrying about loosing power more than gaining power though?
thats why i said most people. ;)
its the only reason mine is fitted. my mpg is resting around 31-32 on the trip but sounds good. may put the air box back on now i got my back box..... but i like the noise coming from both ends of the car :D oh the dilemma.... noise or saving fuel..... lol prob go for noise.... cant be assed to find another inlet pipe. i had to modify mine to change the angle of the filter so its not directly above the manifold.

i can read, can you spell?

you wont lose power n/a engine needs induction length turbo engines need short ones

The point of a working induction kit is that you want to minimise turbulences, the right gas speed and the right length. Additionally you want to get the entry point located where you have got the least heat coming in without drawing water in from puddles.

WTF i didnt think a simple question could cause sucha fuss lmao but yea should i keep it or remove it and to be honest i actually thinking of not bothering with tuning my punto engine at all. far to much hastle and far to much money

to finish it off im going to fit my sporting spoiler
new head unit
bit of damage repaired
and perhaps coilovers

BUT SHOULD I REMOVE THE INDUCTION KIT AM I LOSING POWER?

and im gona buy a cinq and tune up one of them for fun

Golf git? Yes I said git... Why would anyone want a fat slobbery slow over rated under performing lump of toss like that? If one wants fast, get a real car or tune up your car. Id rather walk than be a sheep and drive a golf :yuck:

As a BMW owner, Fiats are in some ways more fun than my 2.5L brute... :D

OP as long as the filter is getting a good shot of cold air I see no real problems. Most kits are usually an improvment over the oem air intake. When I say most, K&N use an air feed pipe, which if not fitted properly can come loose and flop about. This isnt an issue here though

Ive had a new (52 plate) Audi A4 1.9TDI-140. My mother has a Fiat Panda and I have a Punto HGT.

The Audi's M-way roll-on was amazing and it could have been chipped to 180bhp which would have been stonking. But it would wheelspin from standstill at the slightest bit too much throttle so even more grunt would not have been too good. And it was a heavy old estate style lump (Avant model).

The Punto is quick light revvy and great to use. They are like chalk & cheese. I certainly would not go for a Golf over the Punto. The Golf isnt (that) much bigger inside and its about 2x the weight - no thanks. Its also Plain Jane boring to live with. I'd also not have the Golf over the (older less lardy) A4.

The Panda with its 8V 1200/60 is probably much like a Punto with a 75. Its quick enough and easy to live with and its still got that Italian flair.
