Should I get Blue & Me?

I'm getting a Fiat 500 1.2 Pop. I use Macs and Ipods so I'm a bit unsure about adding Blue & Me as an option – I really only want it for the USB port so I can play music from USB sticks.

Is there a way of having USB without Blue & Me?


If I choose it I have to get the leather steering wheel with controls on it and its an extra £350.

Blue & Me sounds like its a bit unreliable anyway – should I leave it out?

Is there a reason your going for the Pop? I liked the seats but once I'd added a few things I wanted such as blue & me, chrome etc was better to buy a lounge.
I can't help you much as I don't have mine yet but most phones seem to connect okay and it has to be better than the cheaper hands free kits out there doesn't it...? I hope so!
Also the music via USB is a big plus.

Thanks for the reply MissR. I just read Ben Bufton's blog and that pretty much sold Blue&Me so I'm going to get it.

I want the Pop because I think I've ruled out the glass roof. Also the Pop is still cheaper with the options I want and I'm really pushing it as it is!

I don't like the alloys on the Sport or the Lounge, I don't want tinted windows or a spoiler. I don't care for split seats in such a small car.

What I do want is a really retro look and I'd love it if someone can tell me for sure if the dashboard of the Pop will look the same as the Lounge would, with my spec as below, or are there differences?

My spec is:

Pop 1.2 in Cha cha cha azure
Chrome kit
Tan leather seats with Ivory ambience
Blue & Me
Air Con.

I have been warned that if I have to resell the car, the extras will be more or less valueless, but I think they will still make it a special car.

Personally I'd go for the Start Stop then as for the extra £400 you'll easily get it back when it comes to resale...and having alloys alone will also help that price...could even sell them and get steels as add on...? (are you doing scrappage or not? If not you may be able to get £200/£300 discount on the car anyway)
As far as I know if you're speccing air con it will look exactly the same.

Has anyone made you aware of the lastest generic updates? - Xenon headlights and possible new suspension. Check your dates on this when you go to order - some dealers don't know much about it.

Thanks for the info. The Start & Stop is starting to look quite interesting. I don't even mind the alloys on that so much.

Looks like I need to spend a bit of time looking into it because there are quite a few things it doesn't have – there seem to be a few airbags missing for starters! Is it designed mainly for town use?

I live in London and that's where I do most of my driving - on short journeys I'm ashamed to say, which aren't essential and I want to cut back on. I'm sure that having a brand new car will make it more of a special treat to drive and I won't want to trash it on all the speed bumps etc!

At the moment with my bashed up cinquecento I chuck it on like an old coat to just go down to the shops!.

I need this car to be okay for motorways too for when I visit my folks.

Glad you like the look of my spec! I was aware of the new suspension, but since the price goes up on Aug 4th I got my order in last weekend, I don't know how that affects whether I get the new suspension or not – I'm not that bothered. Ditto the Xenon lights - no doubt I'll look into it and become concerned! (The dealers told me I have til approximately the weekend to make changes on my order!!)

What the Start Stop has less airbags?! I didn't know that! Where did you read that? If its mainly town driving I would have thought that would be the better choice... Shouldn't perform any worse on the motorway I wouldn't have thought. Can you test drive one near you?
Someone on the main 500 section just bought on I think, see if you can ask them some questions (might have been in the Members motors Gallery bit...)
My current car is an N reg Fiesta, mum had it from new and its been through alot, actually feel quite guilty sending it to its doom!
Seem to be the Xenons are on from now, although they are standard Fiat won't give me a date that they started getting fitted from. Just deciding whether to re-order mine or not at the mo... hmm.

Yeah - if you look at the full spec on the configurator (you have to click just above the 'Save my car' button to see full details) there's all sorts that's missing from the Stop & Start. I don't know if any of it is important which is why I need to look into it!!!

I'm scrapping my M reg Cinquecento - very relucantly though its not even worth £50 if I was trying to sell it. It goes like a dream but the body is falling apart very badly, its not going to last much longer and my mum gets scared when I drive it up the motorway so after ten years of ownership its making me back almost what I paid for it ten years ago!!! (3rd hand)

Your N reg fiesta sounds similar!

Very! Its been a great car. Was hoping to pass it on to my little cousin but the £2k is just too good an offer to refuse, like you said it would be £100 if that if I sold it but just no longer economical to run.
Well whatever you decide you'll love it, it a beautiful car, no doubt about it!

I know I'm going to LOVE the new 500. If it doesn't work out I'll sell it and with the profit buy myself a cinq off ebay in better nick than my old faithful!
