General Should I buy?

I've seen and driven a red 96 with 38000 kms from new, good history and spec, new alloys and tyres, ss exhaust. Hood 8/10
Great drive...the downside is that it is red and the paint is really faded to a noticeable extent. Price £3000 Can't decideif this price is too high!
Advice please...

Hi,

Price doesn't seem bad given the mileage if the spec is good. Check Fiat Barchetta Club and Skupe for comparisons. If all that is needed is a paint job (check electrics, variator, tires and clutch etc.) it probably isn't a bad deal although you may be find someone else selling who has already resprayed as most paints colours don't wear particulary well. Would recommend a check by someone who knows the car - DTR in Mortlake is good or Black & White near Newbury who I use.

If the paint is just faded and non metalic a cutting agent (t-cut, 3m cutting compound) should bring the paint up like new, red does have a tendancy to fade in most cars if not looked after.

Di you buy the car? If you t-cut it and use a nice colour wax then polish, this will bring it back to life. Where are you located?
