in one of your pics you have your dial cover yellow???? did you paint this your self or did it come like tht and can i take mine of and paint it silver with spray paint or do i have to do anything to get it ready???

The bit surrounding the dials? There are usually some on ebay it alloy/chrome.

my dad has just gone out and bought a bmw 320i today and its gorgeous!!! the gear stick is very short as the surround is high and the bag is kind off dipped(if you get me) so it looks like there is more gear stick underneath. has any one seen anything like this and what do they think. if anyone can find a pic of the new 320i M (sports) and post it on here that wouold be great as i love it and wouldnt mind if i had it lol

I did my own,its too easy a job to not do,although ive seen them on ebay too,but far to overpriced!

and how did u get that of. what about the surround for the gear stick. can i just rub that down and spray that as well.
the dial surround comes off easily after you remove the cluster and seperate the dials from the glass. its easy to remove the cluster cos every conncetion is an electrical clip type.
DONT try and paint your gaiter, i dont think even acrylic paint would last long on it cos it flexes too much. even if it didnt flake, it would still look stupid.

no i meant the plastic bit round it where the ash tray is but i am thinking about going to scrappies soon and looking for a sporting console and leave that same colour.

It just pulls out,and yeah,sand,wet and dry,spray a few times,clear laquer(spelt wrong no doubt!),it really is as easy as that,although just caress the spray,take your time and build it up,cos no one likes the runs!!!

i prefer my gear knob to be higher, as i have recently changed mine and feel that it is smoother and easier now it is slightly higher than standard.

what you have made your gear stick higher..... how did you do that. and do you not find it looks silly.... and what have you done to the gaiter is it the same or have you changed the gaiter.
could put a taller gear knob on it?.,
when i put my vauxhall one on, it felt horrible, cos it was taller than standard. it totally changed the feel of the gearbox.
hovever, with the new one, i have faith in the fiat gearbox again

yes the new one is longer and the gaiter didn't need changing, it is only fractionally higher but i think has a better feel to it due to it being higher.
hows that i mean its longer and you have to move further to change gear where ta short one would just take less time and effort
i do not know but by it being higher i do find it more comfortable and easier to shift through the gears, its no longer to shift really.
