Hello

For my next service on my JTD i've been looking at Shell Helix HX7 oil:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Fiat_Stilo_1.9_2002/p/car-parts/car-lubricants-and-car-fluids/lubricant-and-fluids/engineoil/?521772251&1&979941f63a7ac111063c4984d71fe17b2714a799&000398

When i was in my local motor spares shop they had some of this Shell Helix PLUS: http://www.autoolej.sk/images/shell-helix-plus-diesel-10w-40-5l-1.jpg I asked the bloke how much and he said £20.

Has anybody used this before, would it be ok for the JTD? I've never seen it before hence my query :) Do i spend a bit more and get the HX7 or maybe the ULTRA stuff? They are both priced well.

Thanks

Phil

I'm considering putting the Mobil1 0w40 in on the next service, although I would be interested to hear any other good oil reviews!

I used that oil for my last service and i had no problems with it. Pricey oil, even on offer at £40. Shell is a good brand too and for a lot less £££. At the moment i've got Halfords semi synthetic in.

Did you notice any difference in terms of noise/vibration with any of the oils?

I'm sure the Mobil 1 oil quietened the engine noise down a bit and the car generally ran well. The Halfords oil is quite good too, the engine sounds nice with this stuff in too. I can recommend both. The Halfords oil was on offer when i got it for £19.99 i think but the Shell stuff is similar priced so i'm going to try that next :)

I have now done over 100,000 miles using Mobil 1 0w40 Fully Synthetic oil, the car is now on just over 166,500 miles in total. The car runs very well and I wouldn't use anything else.

Hi guys,
Around these parts (Serbia) my mechanic recommended to use the Castrol Magnatec 10W40 part synthetic oil which I am doing for the third oil change since I have the car. To be honest I trust the know how of the mechanic, I haven't been let down by him so far. He says that a Full Synthetic is an overkill for our Stilo 1.6 but as I said I don't have any mayor experiences with this.
I use Castrol Magnatec 10W40 which I was told I should use.
