Hi i'm Andy,Trevs mate,i'm a recovery driver down in sussex,we work for/with the police, and now actually work in the offics/yard and deal with this all the time,go to police with as many details of the accident that you have, they will tell you where the car has been taken(this will be an aproved contractor for the police),they will require photo id,paper id and most importantly to them proof of insurance,ie insurance docs(they wont let you near the car till they see these, mainly so they know they are getting paid),if your fully comp they will/should let you take whatever you require from the car,but be warned it will scare you, take someone with you,but remember they have walked away, the car did its job,and it's only a lump of metal, also in this day and age you dont need to claim on your insurance, many lawyers would take it on,we use a firm at work, non fault no charge type affair, main benifit is your insurance won't go upThey're both back home now, safe and well. Dad's face looks a bit of a mess, and Sister has seatbelt bruises.
Police involved. Sounds like the lady was driving dangerously. She tried turning right when dad was coming towards her, she cut accross his path, and the whole of the front and front drivers wing took the brunt.
Dad's seat took alot of the impact. Looks like I'll be karting dad about tomorrow to sort things out.
Just a little question, anyone had anything similar happen to a family member? Just they were both carted away and car obviously recovered by the police or something. What happens as far as sorting things out with car and getting bits out and insurance etc? Just dad and sister have no details or anything. I've said I'll sort the imediate things out for dad, so looks like I'll be heading down the police station first thing in the morning to try and get details of her insurance and where the car is etc.
Don't even know if I want to see the car. Could put me off of Panda'ing
Jon.
police will have had it recovered, andyThanks Trev. About to call local recovery firm that the local Police normally use to see if the car is with them.
Somehow I think the car is sitting out in the eliments (wet and rain here) with quite a few hundred pounds worth of dad's tools in the boot
Oh well, that's what insurance is for. lol.
is it too soon to start hinting about cheap 750 to re shell it with?![]()

By the way, how is the 750 shell different at the front?![]()
MEP, if this is an insurance job you won't be allowed to remove any parts from the car, only your personal possessions, as it is deemed to belong to the insurance company. And if the damage is really bad (which it is from the sounds of it) it will be recorded as a Cat A write off. You might be able to buy it back from the insurance company when it's all settled but I wouldn't bank on it. It will probably be sent straight to the crusher. Best to let it go completely I'm afraid.
:yeahthat: Engine and gearbox on the Selecta's are wider.
you not got a hammer?![]()
