Service Time

Well I'm back to do my 500 mile a week uni commute so I need to do another service to make sure all is well. Doing the usual, oil, filter, plugs, HT leads and air filter. Is there anything else I should do?

I'm also think its about time I changed the gearbox oil, the car has 95k miles on the clock and is 7 years old. How do I do this and is it worth it?

Did the gearbox oil today and it certainly looked like it hadn't been done for 95k, really plased gear selection seems smoother and sharper if you know what I mean.

Certainly recommend doing it, it took no more than 20 minutes from start to finish and is very easy, and for the sake of £15, its piece of mind.

Another happy BOOzer. Just one thing. At the end of the week, gonna just check it and make sure all the oils still in it. If a plug comes out, and your gearbox dies, i dont want the extended blame for suggesting it

I will do it tomorrow morning but very pleased with result, I thought it was good before I changed it but now it feel brand new. A definite must for all owners reaching the 100k, especially the 1.2 owners with the notorious weak gearbox.

I would do a guide but it is very straight forward if you have a Haynes manual. If anyone wants to know more, I'm more than happy to some pictures online and do a little write up.

um, half my post was missing there. It still makes sense as it is mind you, but for the record, thats weird. Personally, i'd suggest that gearbox oil should be changed at the same intervals as your cambelt (so just a bit before 100k lol). If either of those fail, its usually a spectacular bill....
