Wonder if anyone can clear this up for me before I see the handbook when when I get the car.

I had a 2013 500S 1.2 and the service interval was every 18k miles, I then got a 2015 500s 1.2 the same car and it’s service interval is 9K miles between services. I’m about to purchase a 2017 500s 1.2 face lift and the dealer advert has the service interval of 18K again like the first one.

Has the service interval been extended again to 18k or is it possibly a error on the advert?

Thanks

Technically the intervals never changed from 18k as 9k servicing just an inspection unless you pay for an oil change as well. There used to be a note saying change the oil every 6250 miles if don't do more than this per year. A more recent Fiat I had featured an advisory to check the oil every 300 miles. Though none of my cars ever been checked that often when I waa commuting 500 miles a week. The weekly checks figure used to be 625 miles or a fortnight. Regular oil changes the key maybe.

As far as I am aware the service interval (oil change) for the 1.2 is 9000miles. The service interval for the TwinAir is 18000miles
If you have the car on a PCP and plan to give it back, I suppose it doesn´t matter LOL... but if you plan on keeping the car... its 9000miles oil changes for a 1.2

Why not download the handbook for the car you're thinking of buying from Fiat's download site?

Start here.

Have fun working out how to navigate that site - it can be done! You can specify what you want by VIN, Reg No or month/year - it's pretty comprehensive.

A quick perusal for a 2017 1.2 indicates a scheduled service every 9000miles/1yr.

It matters a lot, because if you don't have it serviced in accordance with the manufacturers service schedule, you could be surcharged if you return it at the end of the agreement. You also need to read the specific terms of the PCP agreement; if it says it must be serviced by a franchised dealer, then that's what you must do if you want to avoid the risk of another surcharge.

OK so my service manual for the 1.2 states an oil service every 9000miles. I downloaded a handbook for the car off the fiat website and this states every 18000miles for the 1.2.
When I checked - Fiat US states 8000miles and Fiat Italy 20000kms which is 12000miles LOL
All for the same engine!

I'd service any car at 9k miles regardless of what the handbook says 18k is far too long on the same oil
May be all-right for trucks with huge sump volumes but for small cars it doesn't work

Yes I totally agree and in reference to my above post, if you are keeping the car change the oil often... if you are giving the car back at 3 years, stick to what Fiat say LOL
