Hi everybody,

I changed the oxgen(lambda) sensor of my car (Brava 1.6x 1997)2 weeks ago, but the car is still unstable using more bensin and with black smoke from exhaust system. The dealer said it takes some time until it comes back to the normal. Is that true? how long? Any idea?

Regards,

It will probably be the manifold pressure sensor or the throttle pot. If there is black some there is something VERY VERY wrong!

The adjustments made by the lambda sensor are very small indeed and could not cause it to get so bad there is black smoke.

Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!)

Try to change the spark plug or readjust the gap

Re: Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!)

In fact, it is not black smok it is somrting like brown. Is it still bad?

Still bad. It won't be the spark plugs.

I'd still say its the pressure sensor.

hi

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!)

Is it something expensive? I also have a vibration in exhaust system exactly at 3000rpm is it related?

Thanks,

Another thing I want to say is why then the fiat dealer checked it by computer and said it is from oxygen sensor and charged me 4000NOK (400£) for that? :(

I still don't think its the oxygen sensor, if its making smoke then something really major is wrong.

How often do you have to top up the engine oil?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!)

I bought the car 6 month ago. Everything is fine with the car except this. The privious owner was a careful man and changed the oil on time.

Tom,

Can you tell me where these sensors located? and another question is: There is a vibrating I guess from the exhaust exactly at 3000rpm, do you have any idea about it?

Many thanks!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!)

On the inlet manifold, ontop of the engine.

The vibrating will probably be the exhaust heatshield.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: SENSOR problem................(help!

Can I fix it myself or say to them to fix that? You know they charge me much!!
