Hi everyone,
I'm new to multiplas, I've just bought a 53 reg jtd elx, it's a great car, I've always liked them, does anyone know anything about the self contained additional heater (page 75 handbook), is this an optional extra that I probably haven't got, I don't have any remote control that it goes on about.
Thanks Guizzo.

EH ??
I know all about Google and Webasto and that's not what I'm talking about.

Page 75 in my book does indeed refer to 'Self-Contained Additional Heater (For Engine JTD Versions)'.

I understand that that for some North American and Northern European markets where extremely cold temperatures are an issue this heating system is an optional extra to keep the engine coolant/oil from freezing and to stop your backside from freezing to the seats. In those markets, extra heating units used to be common, particularly in the old air-cooled VW Beetles and were fuelled by petrol from a small separate tank.

It's fairly common in Fire Stations in the cooler parts of Britain to have a plug-in heater system that automatically unplugs from the Machine when it drives out of its bay in the fire station. For the same reasons!

Thanks zundapp, that explains it, I might buy one of those plug in 12 volt heaters like you can get on ebay as long as it's less that 180 watt.
Do you like zundapp bikes ? I've got a few old 50's bikes.

Hi Guizzo,
I used to be into older east european bikes, but due to space (lack of), at the minute I've just got my daily used 1000cc Varadero and an ex army Can-Am Bombardier in desert colours.

I haven't actually used the Bombardier on the road for about five years - it's used for vintage shows and steam rallies. It is quite nice to ride though, although the power band's a bit peaky!

What stuff do you have?
