My sisters cinq was driving and the alternator seized - what other damage do you all realisticaly think could have been done? I need to collect it by the end of the month and need to take the parts with me so I can drive it back (150 mile trip).
i changed mine lying in a snow/slush filled gutter in a blizzard once.
jack car up, remove wheel, remove liner, disconnect battery, disconnect wires from alternator, remove 2 bolts, remove alternator, fit new one, fitting is reversal of removal

I don't like the idea of taking a trolly jack /axle stands on the train and then jacking a car up as it's parked half on some grass and half on the road
get her to take the battery off, charge it up, and then take some jump leads with you, jump it off someone elses car. don't turn on anything electrical you don't need and drive it somewhere easier to work on it

Mwhahahah my sister couldn't even change a fuse let alone charge the battery LMAO! Good idea though i could potentially take a charged battery with me!

yeah that, just cut the altenator belt off so its not grinding the altenator to bits, no radio, and pref in the day time so no lights on and no fans on
It is easy enough, just a bit bloody awkward for access. You cound always use the old scissor jack and the run-flat in case it fell off, although axle stand would be better.
