Hi there. just bought an 1100 seicento for my daughter to learn to drive in. I'm in the process of doing a full service. As the last owner seems to have neglected the car, I'm assuming she didn't get the timing belt changed at the correct time. Is this a safe engine, or does a broken belt cause engine damage?

It shouldnt do any damage however u might want to ask in the Cento section or just read it as some1 asked this question recently

i think the only time it can be a problem is when the head has been skimmed beyond limits

Welcome to the site and i hope she enjoys the sei they are a fun little car

Hi there. Thanks for replying. I'll do the belt change at my leisure, after I've finished the service and the points I noted so far; leaking wheel cylinders and cam cover. I'm quite pleased that that's all I've found, as it has been neglected. It is a delight to drive.:):)
