I have an S reg sei abarth. As soon as engine is warm and i stop at some lights the fan comes on. After a while it goes back off but about 2 mins later and its on again. Im not loosing water or even getting the light coming on. Not had the car that long and not even proved the the warning light works. It doesnt come on with ignition but then i dont think its supposed to according to handbook. Any ideas why the fan is coming on early.

The fans on these little cars do seem to work overtime.

The warning light is more of an "oh ****" light. If it comes on, the coolant will most likely already be boiling over.

Fan coming on alot when stopped or in traffic is normal. If you really thing its excessive then it might be worth getting it looked at. The Fans on Cinqs and Seis come on at around 95 degrees and tend to keen on (in short bursts) until the temp drops down bellow around 90 degrees. 90 degrees is pretty much the normal running temp for these cars though so a wait at some lights or a bit of stop/start will see the fan come on.

Unfortunatly, for the Sei, there isn't a temp gauge and so you can't see what temp its running at.

As said though, its perfectly normal for the fan to come on at lights etc. I would be more worried if it didnt :)

Thanks guys i feel better already. Think ill look into getting a gauge fitted as i dont like just relying on a light. It wouldnt be so bad if it came on with ignition so at least i know that its working. Sounds like a typical warning light, to late once its on lol. Many thanks
