I need to know if the standard headunit that comes with the Sei (sony CDX-C4850R) supports the installation of rear speakers - cos being the prat that i am, i've already butchered my parcel shelf and got some meaty 6x9s sitting there.

As you can probably guess - im 100% new to anything to do with car audio, so help with telling how to wire the beasts up would be much appreciated too

I think head unit will run rear speakers, look on the head unit itself and it should say 4x50w or something similiar.

Then all you need to do is run some speaker wires from the headunit to the rear speakers and bobs your uncle:D:D:D, remember to set all the fader and balance levels becasue they might be faded and balanced all the was to the front.

Hope this helps

cheers guv' - it does indeed say 4x40w - but im confused as to the wiring still - theres little loose ba***rds popping out the back (a blue and a blue/white one), and im still unsure as to what u mean by running speaker wires from the headunit - do i have to implant them into the black connection thing myself, and if so, does it matter where i put them?

sorry to be a pain, but i need to learn this[}:)] so i can pretend i know all about modding to budding young lasses ,and help with mates cars also.

cheers again, Andy [8)]

Hi Andy,
Your blue wire will be a remote output, that you can run to an amp, so that the amp turns on when the headunit turns on (this won't power the amp, but will switch it on).
The blue/white wire is for connection of an electric aerial.
If you've got a Haynes manual have a look at the back of that for the wiring diagram for the headunit. It'll tell you which speaker wire needs to go where in the little black box.

How do you connect the speaker cable to the black connector box, i've always had them done for me and i'm just wondering how to do it.

Hi Gaz, well assuming that you've just got bare wires in the car, the neatest way to do it is to go to Halfords (or similar shop) and buy one of the black boxes you need with the wires already fitted to it (about £5), then join your wire ends with the ones connected to the box you've just bought.
It's too much hassle to fit the wire directly to the box yourself as you need funny shaped connectors, that are difficult to find, and then difficult to fit.
