Im looking into installing an induction kit on my mpi sei sporting ms, i dont want one which sits on top of the throttle body soaking up heat which are the only ones i can find. I want one with the pipes to position it infront of the engine. I have seen someone mention a ford focus kit fitting? If this is the case is it a direct fit or will it need altering?

Cheers
Lewis

Most of the Focus ones just plain fit.

If you wobble about in eBay, some of the sellers are now wise to the idea that they fit later Seis, Mk2 puntos, etc.

The only must in the fitting department is that the filter end needs to be supported (usually a brace is supplied which needs to be hacked and bent around to fit to support that end from the gearbox or the coil bracket, otherwise it'll tend to chafe away at wiring, etc).

My cinq had one of these when i got it (the first time round) many many moons ago - it rubbed a pin hole into a brake line cause it wasn't braced properly, so don't ignore that advice!!

This is the one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/01-04-FIAT-SEICENTO-1-1-MPI-SPORTING-AIR-INDUCTION-KIT-/200537241972?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb0f37974

Going by the price I assume it's out of stock (Usually £34.99)

If you have the larger ecu, rather than the micro ecu, it rubs the ecu wiring which isn't exactly great and it also wears down on the HT leads due to its placement. (As mentioned above) Personally I would recommend making a kit up yourself as I've found the most useful part of the whole kit to be the reducer bend that fits on the TB. I also found that the breather pipe doesn't fit without either a bodge or a smaller/larger pipe between the two and on top of that the breather pipe supplied tended to kinck really easily like a cheap hosepipe, blocking off the breather.

Here's my original setup:

Recently it's been chopped about and I've added a 90 degree ASH hoses bend and a blue breather filter to match, now it rub's on nothing although it is supported by some cable ties :p

I do intend to add either a foam ITG filter or a CDA replica from ASH at some point as I can imagine the filter supplied isn't the greatest either.

Yeah i will change the filter and blank the breather as ill be getting an oil catch tank.

Good point fingers, just wondering venting the oil vapour into the intake benefit the motor in any way?

I've been contemplating this recently on my own motor. It'd be very easy to simply plumb my PCV back into the induction kit, as i already have an adaptor.

I have a catch can fitted, but it's in an odd (and far away) place from the engine, i wonder if i may as well just get rid of the can, and stick the venting pipe back onto the intake.

I would just plumb it back to the intake, its only really beneficial to have a catch tank with a turbo IMO although even on my seicentoTurbo it is just straight from breather back into the intake - and i can tell you that my TB still looks all clean and shiny - you don't get much out of it if its a healthy engine anyways. I did always intend to fit a catch tank but have never got around to it...

Makes sense! Well if your turbo throttle body is still clean, mine should be the same, very good.

Want one? Take mine if you like, seeing as i won't be using it! ;)

so ive tryed contacting the person selling the above induction kit and said it would take at least a month to get more stock... so out of curiosity is the kit in this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-COUGAR-99-02-2-0-16V-FOCUS-ZX3-SOHC-00-04-RACE-SHORT-RAM-AIR-INDUCTION-KIT-/390721248117?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5af8cd1b75 not exactly the same as the seicento one?

I would say it appears to be identical, just with a couple extra jubilees, wouldn't bet my life on it though.

Does anybody know the diameter of a 1100 mpi throttle body? And ill ask the seller to measure the pipe :)

Im sure i read on here a while ago not too bother using an induction kit on the mpi engines,

is the stock ecu restrictive in any way and does the engine need chipped too take advantage of the extra air flow

Im just waiting for a new clutch then my 1.2 seicento will be ready :)

The standard airbox looks lame compared to an induction kit plus the videos i seen on youtube with the induction kit fitted sounded really nice so if there is no restrictions on the ecu think i might be adding one eventually :)

ecu will sort itself out for an induction kit.. thats just how they work - more air will get into engine which will make it run a bit lean which the lambda will pick up and this the ecu and then it will open the injector for a tad longer so there is more fuel - this all happens in moments though, such are the wonders on fuel injection over carbs.
