Technical Sei boot release

Hi guys,

My 51 Sei sporting has had a replacement tailgate fitted by a previous owner. Unfortunately, the rear door has the original lock, but no key! Didnt have a problem with that, because I just use the remote release. Until today that is! Tried to open the tailgate and the remote lever just lifted up with no resistance, and of course the boot stays firmly shut! Can someone please tell me how I open the boot and also check whether the cable just needs reattached somewhere, or ? Aint got a clue with the routing/fixing of this cable, or how it attaches to boot lock.

You should be able to fiddle it open with a thin knide or credit car from the inside.

Never heard of the cable snapping. Chances are it has just come undone at one end or the other.

Thanks. Just spent an hour trying to open it with a thim knife, but Ill never make a car thief cos no luck at all!!! Dont know what to do now!

If the cable is undone at the release end, in the cabin, you can just grab the end of it with pliers and pull.

Otherwise, there is a plastic cover on the hatch itself -- may be possible to remove that -- may give you better access?
