Technical Security gateway module location

I am trying to reset the battery info after getting a stop start error. I can clear the codes but can add the new battery details due to the SGW . My data connector is under the steering wheel and I would have expected the SWG module to be close by but can't see it. I was thinking of getting by pass cables.
