Second Amp Wiring

I have purchased a second amp to install in my car the wiring I am going to purchase is:

Knuknoceptz
2x Karma SS 2 Channel 4 Meter RCA Cable, (£9.99 x2)

BC-1428 Kompression Fuse Distribution Block (£7.99)

KLMX Kable 8 Gauge Metallic Blue Power (£1.19)

KLMX Kable 8 Gauge Metallic Silver Ground (£1.19)


speaker wire I already have in the form of Halfords Premium Speaker wire (I know not brilliant but have 8 meters of it lying around)

for the remote wire could I run a cable from the other amps remote to the new one?

and I have a 4 gauge wiring kit install already would it be ok if one of the amps grounds is a 4 gauge and the other an 8 gauge?

As far as the remote wire goes bridging it across from the other amp would be fine, as for the power and earth wire ( depending if you plan on running lots of subs) I would go for as thicker gauge as you can, I ran 4 fusion subs on 2 channels on a 1200w fusion amp and I melted the power fuse into the power wire fuse holder when it was turned up LOUD and when it hit the lows from the dubstep I had on

Daisy chaining the remote will be fine. If your feeling particularly flush you could wire them through a relay.
As for the earth that will be fine. Just dont forget to use an earth distribution block like the one i linked you from CAS. Then that will take different size cables in and distribute it down to your single 4 gauge to earth.

could I not have two ground points i.e. the DLS amp takes the 4 gauge ground wire and runs it to a ground. And the JL amp takes an 8 gauge wire to another earth point. Or is that a big no go with being fed by an 8 gauge power supply i.e. with this set up:

You will be more likely to get Ground loop which basically amplifies the noise from the alternator through the speakers.

could u explain ground loop to me i.e. the causes and how to prevent it please. does using two ground wires in this way always have this effect?

is the best option then two 8 gauge ground wires into a distribution block then to a single 4 gauge grounding point?

There are a million ways to get it. I get it through the fact that I have 15meters of RCA cable curled up under the seat.
It's basically inducting through things and ends up being amplified. I also get a fair bit through the cage of the HU where it is surrounded by metal.

All we can do is our best to prevent it. I.e using earth distro blocks. Running power and signal wires down different sides. If they have to cross, doing so at 90 degrees etc.

thank you for the explanation. I have been forced to run one of the speaker wires down the same side a my power wire I have tried to keep 5cm space in between the two with it being about 2cm at the closest point where had to use the same grommet. will this be a big issue?

Not particularly. Its a lot more effort to run the speaker cable down the wrong side. As long as the RCA's go down the other side you should be ok.

gone with no rear speakers atm and it does take a little bit of getting used to. But just need to be on the lookout for some R6a's
