I am shortly going to take delivery of our second 500 lounge.

Our first car came with the standard Lounge seats, which look lovely but are very light, and they became grubby and marked with dirt/chocolate etc despite the dealer conning me into paying for Supergard.

This new car will have the optional "Black/Grey Sail Cloth" seats. In reality, this is just a darker version of the standard Lounge fabric. Being darker may help to hide the crud that kids and the dog inflict on it, but I would be very interested to know if anyone can recommend a product that I could apply to the seats to give them some stain resistance (something better than Supergard).

Thanks.

Seat covers is the next best thing tbh

the rear bench you can get seat sheets - suitable for when you have a dog, it means the dogs fluff - muck and yuck wont get on the car seats
Its a thin tarp stuff

front seats you can get similar things, but tbh they aren't that attractive

Aldi did some cheap seat covers which i fitted to the punto, keeps the muck and juck off them thats for sure :)

Thanks. I remember looking at seat covers last time round but couldn't find any that looked anywhere near decent.

I made the mistake of believing the hype regarding scotchguard - or whatever it was called.
I loved the way the salesman dropped his coffee onto the fabric - and it just bobbled, waiting for a tissue to soak it all up.

If I didn't know better, I swear he had a triple layer of clingfilm on that swatch!

The reality is, even a drop of rainwater leaves a horrible mark.
Last summer, I spent ages carefully removing the fabric, washing, drying & replacing - and 12 months down the line it looks bad again - and that's without kids etc.

Best to get some decent seat covers that guarantee liquid resistance (or that hydrophobic spray stuff!)

As an aside, my youngest has just presented me with a roll of vinyl all cut up into bits. He wants me to sew it all together to make new seat fabric
The old covers do look tatty - but not sure why he thinks I'm any good with a sewing machine!

but then everytime you twitch your arse you'll get a horrible squeal as your scrape across it

You'll have more boob sweat and crack sweat..... wouldnt want that!
