Hi, first post here. Been following this thread as I've got a 500 arriving soon and want to do scrappage on it. There is page on the SMMT site www .smmt . co .uk / articles / article.cfm ?articleid=19566 (take out the spaces as I can't post a URL on here yet!) answers a few Q's that have been asked in here including, Yes ABARTH have signed up.
Also for anyone who's ordered before 23rd April there may be an issue with the order date.

Wish the folks running scrappage could get their act together. One page of SMMT site says If you placed order before 23rd April then your're not eligible for scheme. Then on another page it's -
  1. I have an eligible car and already placed an order before Budget 2009. Can I have the scheme applied?
No, only orders placed on or after 23 April are eligible for the incentive. (Vehicles ordered before 18 May can only go through the scheme if the old vehicle has not been scrapped, the new vehicle has not been delivered and all other eligibility criteria has or will be met).
This can be read has no problem providing you've not already scrapped old car OR no problem providing you've not already scrapped old car and you ordered between April 23rd and May 17th?

Super500, I had a glossy booklet from my dealer, Glynn Hopkin, Chadwell Heath and it had a whole page in glorious colour stating that they were selling both models of Abarth under the scrappage scheme. If I can find it in the recycle bin I can scan the page and post it here for you.

Don't fall in the wheelie bin Grimmy! Slightly OT but still apposite, does anyone have a problem clicking on "view first unread" or "last page" or this thread? Every time I do it on this thread, a broken link page comes up! Doesn't do it on any other thread tho. Odd.

Me too. Seems there are a few strange characters in the thread URL

Me too, in fact this will be the third time I have tried to post this as it keeps taking me to "page not found". I now copy all my replies and if goes awry then at least I can paste the reply back in the box and not have to retype it all again. lol.

It's annoying but at least you can still get to the end, as long as you do it in installments. :)

ps. I get it on at least four other threads as well. (n)

Looks like the link to the last page is fixed, there seemed to be an extra full stop and colon near the end of the http address.
You can always change it manually on your browser if it tells you "Page not found" so the end of the address reads something like -18.html for page 18 of a thread instead of -18.:.html or whatever alien language it was doing previously.

Just been told by the dealer that my car is ready, but they cannot deliver any cars until they get confirmation from Turin as which tax code they have to use to register the vehicles. When they will get this info is anyones guess!

That sounds like BS to me!

I dont think it is, given the fact Ford and Honda have also put the brakes on the scheme because of issues over who is paying tax. My dealer is frustrated as there is a backlog of cars they want to get to customers and soon they will have no where to store the cars if they don't get some out soon. They have been forced to putting customers cars in the showroom, under covers!

Issues with who is paying what tax? I don't quite understand.

I do. I assumed it was because this was the longest thread in history

Will this VAT thing affect prices for the end customer, or is just something that the manufacturers need to sort out with the government?

once again no one on the street seems to know, it would appear the government want VAT paid by one party, this being the manufacturer and now the manufacturers are trying to split it with the dealers. The first info for manufacturers was only made available to manufacturers last Thursday and according to Ford the contracts which were signed were ambigous and open to interpretation. What a mess!
